I do a liveblog of the Sunday morning political shows. I really try to encourage comments, and also fun.  From what I’ve been told, the majority of people who get up that day and start commenting treat it like a family reunion.  They like, trade recipes and stuff, and congratulate each other when their kids graduate from college, and just generally have this sort of genial Sunday brunch together.

This is the stuff my dad tells me is going on (I tend to stay away from comment streams on all blogs, everywhere). If this is, in fact, the truth, then I feel very lucky, and I’ll count it as the one way I was able to make a contribution to internet culture.

I hope it’s true! The other way I used to judge that I was being good to the internet was if I could show up in Alex’s “Open Tabs” each week, but he’s not doing it as often. I feel adrift!
